November 29, 2024 Catherine Williams - Chief Editor Entertainment

Trombone Shorty will perform “America the Beautiful” at Super Bowl LIX. He will sing alongside Lauren Daigle, a Grammy-winning artist. Their performance will highlight the lively spirit of Louisiana.

Trombone Shorty, whose real name is Troy Andrews, is known for blending funk, soul, R&B, and rock. He is a New Orleans icon. He played at Jazz Fest with Bo Diddley when he was four. By age six, he led his own brass band. Since then, he has released five albums and toured with major artists like Lenny Kravitz and the Foo Fighters. He has performed at the Grammys four times and at the White House six times. He also stars in a Mardi Gras parade.

Lauren Daigle hails from Louisiana and has won multiple Grammy and Billboard Music Awards. Her 2018 album, “Look Up Child,” reached No. 3 on the Billboard Top 200. This made her the first woman to hit the Top 10 on both the Pop and Christian Album charts at the same time. The single “You Say” has been certified six-times Platinum. Her recent self-titled album features her sixth chart-topper, “Thank God I Do,” and has helped her streaming numbers exceed 1 billion.

Ledisi, another Grammy winner, will perform “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” She represents New Orleans through her music, earning acclaim worldwide. Ledisi has received 15 Grammy nominations and won for Best Traditional R&B Performance. She has performed at venues like The White House and Carnegie Hall, showcasing her powerful voice and stage presence.

The Super Bowl will also include American Sign Language (ASL) performances. Stephanie Nogueras will sign “Star-Spangled Banner” and “America the Beautiful.” Otis Jones IV will sign “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” Matt Maxey will perform the ASL version of the Halftime Show. Alexis Kashar and Howard Rosenblum will support these ASL performances.
