Tropical Depression Sara Leaves One Dead and Thousands Affected in Honduras
‘Sara’ Weakens to Tropical Depression After Causing One Death and Thousands Affected in Honduras
Tropical storm Sara has weakened into a tropical depression as it moves through Belize. It is expected to reach Guatemala and southern Mexico in this state. The storm has caused flooding in Honduras, resulting in one death and affecting over 70,000 people.
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) reported that Sara is now a tropical depression. It is traveling at 13 kilometers per hour with sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour.
Despite its weakening, the NHC has advised the governments of Honduras, Guatemala, Belize, and Mexico to remain on alert. Heavy rains may still lead to catastrophic and potentially deadly floods.
