U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, U.S. Special Envoy steve Witkoff, President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner… Donald Trump revealed the names of the members of the peace council for gaza in a statement on Friday, January 16.
The U.S. President will chair this council, which will also include the President of the World Bank, Ajay Banga, Marc Rowan, a billionaire head of the investment fund Apollo Global Management, and Robert Gabriel, an advisor to Donald Trump. Of the seven members of the council, with the exception of tony Blair, all are American and most are close to the occupant of the White House. Of Indian origin, Ajay Banga became a U.S. citizen in 2007.
The peace council is suppose to oversee the work of the Palestinian committee responsible for administering the Gaza Strip,as part of the second phase of the Trump plan. Each of the members will “oversee a defined sector, necessary for the stabilization and long-term success of Gaza, including the establishment of government structures, regional relations, reconstruction, attractiveness for investment, large-scale financing and capital mobilization”, the statement details.
Donald Trump has reportedly discussed a plan for the United States to take control of Palestinian territory and transform it into a “Riviera of the Middle East,” after expelling its current inhabitants.
