Trump Appoints Karoline Leavitt as White House Press Secretary
Trump Names Karoline Leavitt as White House Press Secretary
Donald Trump announced on Friday that he has appointed Karoline Leavitt as the new White House press secretary. She will take on this role when Trump is inaugurated on January 20. At just 27 years old, Leavitt previously served as the national spokesperson for Trump’s campaign.
In a statement, Trump praised Leavitt, calling her “smart, tough, and a highly effective communicator.” He expressed confidence that she would perform well in front of the press and help convey his administration’s message to the American people.
The press secretary’s position requires handling daily questions from reporters, making it crucial for communication and transparency.
Leavitt has experience in political communication, having worked as a communications director for Representative Elise Stefanik of New York. Trump recently appointed Stefanik as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. Additionally, Leavitt ran for a seat in the House of Representatives from New Hampshire in 2022 but lost the election.
In a recent podcast, Leavitt shared her background, stating, “I did not grow up in a political family. Like most Americans, I grew up in a middle-class family of entrepreneurs in New Hampshire. I got involved in politics during college.”
This appointment marks a significant step in her political career as she steps into a prominent position in the incoming administration.
