Trump Attends SpaceX Launch with Elon Musk in Texas

President-elect Donald Trump recently chose Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX, to co-lead a panel aimed at improving government efficiency. This decision comes as Trump travels to Texas to witness the launch of SpaceX’s Starship rocket, which is set to be the largest object ever launched into space.

Trump shared his excitement on his social media platform, stating, “I’m heading to the Great State of Texas to watch the launch of the largest object ever to be elevated… Good luck to Elon Musk and the Great Patriots involved in this incredible project!”

The Starship rocket is scheduled for its sixth test flight just before sunset on the same day. Musk expressed his honor on social media, welcoming Trump to the launch.

The Federal Aviation Administration has implemented temporary flight restrictions over Brownsville, Texas, where the launch is taking place. During this time, flight restrictions will also be lifted over Trump’s property in Palm Beach, Florida.

Musk, who created SpaceX in 2002, aims to use the Starship rocket system to transport people and cargo to Mars. NASA also plans to utilize Starship under its Artemis program to land astronauts on the moon in the upcoming decade.

Musk became Trump’s main donor in the 2024 election and publicly endorsed him earlier in the summer. Besides his role in the launch, Musk will help lead the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to reduce government spending during Trump’s upcoming term.
