The Senate is moving toward a procedural vote on President Trump’s “big, beautiful bill,” even as Democrats seek to slow⁣ its progress. Senate Minority leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.,intends to force a full reading of the bill,a move expected ⁢to take about 12 hours and delay‍ the process.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D.,acknowledged the voting schedule remains fluid. He described the initial vote as “aspirational,” citing internal disagreements and rulings from the parliamentarian that could impact its passage before the self-imposed July 4⁤ deadline. The Trump megabill ⁤ faces significant hurdles.

Several Republican senators, including Thom Tillis of⁤ North Carolina, Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, and Rand Paul of Kentucky, have signaled they may vote against advancing the senate budget bill ⁢or its final ⁤passage.
