Trump Downplays Safety Concerns, Harris Condemns Violence Amid Rising Tensions
Former President Trump Safe After Assassination Attempt
Former President Donald Trump informed his supporters on Tuesday that he was unharmed following an assassination attempt at his golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida.
In an email sent to supporters shortly after the shooting, Trump stated, “There has been a shooting in my neighborhood, but I want to let you know before the rumors get out of hand. I am safe and well.” He added, “Nothing will slow me down. I will never give in.”
The incident occurred at around 2 p.m. when a shooting took place at the golf course owned by Trump. According to the FBI, they engaged in a gunfight outside the golf course with a man who was pointing a gun at people inside. The man was taken into custody for questioning.
US Vice President Kamala Harris, who is running against Trump in the November presidential election, expressed her relief on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “I’m glad he (former President Trump) is safe.” She emphasized that “violence has no place in America.”
Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, also posted on X, saying, “I’m glad President Trump is okay.” Vance added that he had spoken with Trump before the news broke and was surprised to find him doing well. Vance reflected, “There’s still a lot that’s unknown, but tonight I’m going to hug my kids and say a prayer of thanks.”
Harris’s running mate, Tim Walz, also expressed his relief on X, stating, “Gwen and I are glad to hear that Donald Trump is safe.” Walz emphasized that “violence has no place in our country, and this is not who we are as a nation.”
