President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to extend their ceasefire by three weeks following a meeting at the White House with senior U.S. Officials.
The extension comes as the initial 10-day ceasefire, brokered last week, was set to expire. Trump said the agreement provides “breathing room” for both countries to continue diplomatic efforts.
Trump stated that he, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, and U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa participated in the Oval Office meeting with high-ranking representatives from Israel and Lebanon.
The U.S. President emphasized that the United States will work with Lebanon to help it protect itself from Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militia group.
