Khamenei Warns of More Attacks on US Middle East Bases
Updated June 26, 2025
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei issued a warning that Iran would not hesitate to bomb more U.S. air bases in the Middle East. This statement marks his first public appearance since the U.S. strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities on Sunday.
Khamenei claimed that the Islamic Republic has access to “key U.S. centers” adn will act “when necessary.” He also asserted that Iran’s attack on the Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar was a victory over both Israel and the U.S., calling it “a slap to the U.S.’s face.”
“Such an action can be repeated in the future too. Should any aggression occur, the enemy will definitely pay a heavy price,” Khamenei said.
Earlier this week, seven U.S. stealth bombers dropped 14 bunker-busting bombs on Iranian nuclear facilities. A leaked Defense Intelligence Agency assessment suggests the strikes may have only delayed Iran’s nuclear program by a few months.
Pete Hegseth and military officials will hold a briefing at the Pentagon at 8 a.m. EST to discuss the strikes. According to a post by the U.S. president on Truth Social, the briefing aims “to fight for the Dignity of our Great American Pilots.”
What’s next
The situation remains tense, with the potential for further escalation. The U.S. briefing may provide more clarity on the extent of the damage inflicted on Iran’s nuclear program and the U.S.’s next steps in the region.
