A public clash between Donald Trump and Elon Musk has intensified, with the former allies now exchanging barbs over a spending bill and electric vehicle policy. the dispute, playing out on social media, includes accusations and threats.
The conflict ignited when Musk denounced Trump’s spending bill as a “repulsive abomination,” urging opposition. He argued the bill was laden with wasteful spending and would irresponsibly increase the national debt. Trump initially remained silent.
Trump, during a press conference with German Chancellor friedrich Merz, expressed disappointment in Musk.He implied Musk’s criticism only surfaced after leaving the Department of Government Efficiency. “Elon knew the inner workings of this bill better than almost anybody sitting here. All of a sudden he had a problem,” Trump said.
Musk countered, stating, “This bill was never shown to me even once and was passed in the dead of night so fast that almost no one in Congress could even read it!”
EV Policy at Issue
Trump claimed Musk’s discontent stemmed from the bill’s removal of subsidies and mandates for electric vehicles, possibly impacting Tesla. “He only developed a problem when he found out I would cut the EV mandate,” Trump said. Musk denied self-interest, stating the EV/solar incentives should remain, but the “MOUNTAIN of DISGUSTING PORK” should be removed.
Epstein Claim
Escalating the feud, Musk accused Trump of ties to Jeffrey Epstein, alleging the governance withheld related files. “Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public,” Musk posted.

Musk had previously supported Trump’s presidential bid.He now regrets that support. “without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate,” Musk stated.
trump dismissed Musk’s influence, saying Musk knew the bill’s details better than anyone. Musk refuted Trump’s account as “false.”
Personal Power Struggle
Trump hinted at ending government contracts with Musk’s companies, including SpaceX and Starlink. “The easiest way to save money in our budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon’s Governmental Subsidies and Contracts,” he wrote.
