WASHINGTON‍ – U.S. President⁣ Donald Trump has announced the formation of a “Board⁤ of peace” intended too facilitate a resolution‍ to the conflict in Gaza. The White House released a statement on Friday, January⁢ 16, 2026, detailing the initial appointments ⁣to the seven-member “founding executive board.”

Among those named are former ⁢British Prime Minister Tony Blair, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump’s special ⁢envoy ‍Steve⁢ Witkoff, senior advisor and son-in-law‍ Jared Kushner, and World Bank President Ajay Banga. Trump will serve as the board’s chairman. The White House indicated that‍ additional members ⁤will be announced in the coming weeks.

The announcement ‍follows Trump’s initial unveiling of the “Board of Peace” ‍on Thursday, January 15,⁢ 2026, as a ⁤central component of ⁣a U.S.-backed initiative to end the ongoing hostilities in Gaza. Trump described the board as “the greatest and Moast Prestigious Board ever assembled at any time, any place.”

Blair’s‍ inclusion has drawn scrutiny due to his involvement‍ in the 2003 invasion of Iraq, a decision that remains ⁢contentious in the⁤ Middle East. Trump acknowledged last year the need to ensure ⁣Blair’s acceptance by ⁢all parties involved.
