President Donald Trump announced Friday he intends to nominate economist Kevin Warsh to chair the Federal Reserve, replacing Jerome Powell. The announcement came via Trump’s Truth Social account.
“I am pleased to announce that I am nominating Kevin Warsh,” Trump wrote, detailing Warsh’s experience. He highlighted Warsh’s history as the youngest-ever governor of the Federal Reserve, serving from 2006 to 2011 at age 35.
“I’ve known Kevin for a long time and have there’s no doubt whatsoever he will go down as one of the GREAT fed Chairmen, perhaps the best!” Trump added, asserting Warsh “has the perfect profile” and “will never disappoint.”
Trump noted Warsh’s young age upon joining the Fed in 2006, his prior role as an economic advisor to president George W. Bush, and his current affiliation with the Hoover Institution, a prominent conservative think tank in California.
