Trump Says Iran Wants to Negotiate Amid Israel Conflict
Washington D.C. — Former U.S. President Donald Trump responded sharply to Iran after Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned of “irreparable damage” if the U.S. intervened in the intensifying israel-Iran conflict, stating that Iran ”made a mistake.”
Speaking to reporters at the white House, Trump responded to a question about Khamenei’s remarks by saying, “I say ‘good luck.’” He added, “They had 60 days… They made a mistake,” while preparing to raise a new flagpole.
When pressed about potentially committing U.S. forces to assist Israel in targeting Iranian nuclear facilities, Trump smirked and said, “I may do it, I may not do it.I meen, nobody knows what I’m going to do.” He confirmed that Iran has reached out to negotiate, stating, “Iran’s got a lot of trouble and they want to negotiate.”
Trump criticized the timing of Iran’s negotiation efforts, saying, “Why didn’t you talk to me two weeks ago? You could’ve done fine. You would’ve had a country.”
Tensions have escalated recently following intensive Israeli strikes on Iranian military and nuclear sites and Iran’s retaliatory launch of hypersonic missiles. Trump said iran now wants to negotiate amid its escalating conflict with Israel, but criticised the timing, saying it came ‘too late.’
Addressing his Truth Social post demanding “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!” from Iran, Trump said, “That means I’ve had it. OK, I’ve had it. I give up. No more.” He also signaled his patience was wearing thin, stating, “It’s very late to be talking. I don’t know — there’s a big difference between now and a week ago.”
Khamenei’s comments came amid intense aerial conflict between Iran and Israel, which has already resulted in casualties and damage to key infrastructure. the escalation followed Israeli airstrikes on multiple Iranian targets, triggering swift retaliation from Iran.
While Trump initially distanced the U.S. from israel’s offensive, his recent statements and increased U.S. military deployments to the region suggest a potential deeper involvement by Washington.
