Trump Pardons Todd and Julie Chrisley in Tax Evasion and Bank Fraud Case
Updated May 28, 2025
todd and Julie Chrisley, stars of “chrisley Knows Best,” are set to be released from federal prison following a full pardon from President Trump. The declaration, made Tuesday, comes nearly three years after their 2022 conviction on charges of tax evasion and bank fraud.
The Chrisleys gained fame through their USA Network series, which showcased their affluent lifestyle and family dynamics. Savannah Chrisley, their 27-year-old daughter, has been a vocal advocate for her parents, decrying their conviction and it’s impact on their family.
Trump personally called Savannah Chrisley to inform her of the pardons. A video of the call was shared by the White House. The Chrisleys were initially indicted by a federal grand jury in Atlanta on charges including conspiracy and wire fraud, in addition to tax evasion. Prosecutors alleged that between 2007 and 2012, the couple submitted fraudulent financial statements to obtain millions of dollars in loans.
Following their conviction in June 2022, Todd Chrisley, 56, received a 12-year prison sentence, while Julie Chrisley, 52, was sentenced to seven years. Both also received 16 months of probation. In September 2024, a federal judge upheld Julie Chrisley’s seven-year sentence upon resentencing.
Savannah Chrisley has consistently challenged the verdict, alleging corruption in the court proceedings and describing harsh prison conditions. She has used her ”Unlocked” podcast and appearances at events like the Republican National Convention to voice her concerns and support for Trump.
At the RNC, Savannah Chrisley claimed her family was targeted by “rogue prosecutors” due to their public profile and conservative beliefs.
Savannah Chrisley shared news of the pardons on Instagram, stating that Trump called her personally with the news. She expressed immense gratitude towards Trump and vowed to continue exposing corruption.
