Trump Proposes Charles Kushner for Ambassador to France Amid Controversy
Trump Wants Charles Kushner as France Ambassador
Former President Donald Trump plans to nominate Charles Kushner as the U.S. ambassador to France. Charles Kushner is the father of Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law.
Trump praised Charles Kushner, stating, "He is a great businessman and philanthropist. He will represent our country well." Charles Kushner is also the father-in-law of Ivanka Trump, Trump’s daughter.
In 2020, Trump granted clemency to Charles Kushner, who had served two years in prison for tax evasion and witness tampering. His actions included filming a prostitute to lure his brother-in-law for cooperation from his sister.
Jared Kushner’s Controversy
Jared Kushner has faced scrutiny as well. In 2017, he was questioned about possible secret contacts with Russia during Trump’s campaign. Although he was part of the campaign team, he could not engage in diplomatic discussions at that time.
Jared testified before a Senate committee investigating Russian interference in the U.S. elections and potential collusion with Trump’s campaign. The investigation did not lead to any significant findings against him or Donald Trump, according to the investigator.
