Trump Saddened by Biden Cancer Announcement
Trump, Harris React to Biden’s Cancer Diagnosis
Former President Donald Trump expressed his sadness Sunday following the proclamation that Joe Biden, his Democratic rival, has been diagnosed with cancer.
Trump, along with his wife Melania, stated they were “saddened to learn of the recent medical diagnosis of Joe Biden,” who is reportedly suffering from an “aggressive” form of prostate cancer. The announcement was made Sunday, May 18.
“We send our warmest wishes to Jill adn his family, and we wish Joe a rapid and effective recovery,” Trump posted on his Truth Social network.
Kamala Harris, former vice president, also reacted to the news. “Joe is a fighter—and I know that he will take up this challenge with the same force, the same resilience and the same optimism that have always defined his life and his leadership,” she stated on X (formerly Twitter).
“aggressive” Form of Cancer
Biden, 82, was diagnosed with an “aggressive” form of prostate cancer, according to a statement released by his office Sunday. The statement indicated the cancer has spread, presenting as “bone metastases.”
“Although this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer seems to be hormone dependent, which allows effective management,” Biden’s office saeid in a press release.
The diagnosis was made Friday. The press release noted the cancer registered a level 9 on the Gleason score, a scale used to assess the aggressiveness of prostate cancer, with 10 being the highest level.
Biden left office in January after foregoing a re-election bid in the summer of 2024 amid concerns about his health. A book examining his cognitive state during his term is scheduled for release Tuesday. Trump often referred to Biden as “Sleepy Joe.”
