Ukraine Proposes Drone-for-Tomahawk Exchange with US
During a press conference prior to a meeting between the two leaders, Volodymyr Zelensky revealed a proposal to the Trump Administration: an exchange of Ukrainian drone technology for the supply of Tomahawk missiles.
”This is a technological war,” Zelensky argued, emphasizing that Donald Trump needs drones and other missiles, along with Tomahawks. Zelensky added his desire to collaborate with Trump to secure necessary aid for Ukraine and bolster American production.
“We have a great proposal with our drones,” he stated, clarifying that the proposal could be either a commercial transaction or an exchange. “They are very good drones,” he asserted. Donald Trump did not dismiss the idea, responding with a smile and a nod. However, he pointed out that the USA is “completely supplied” with the necessary weapons. “But we buy drones from others, and you make very good drones,” he added, addressing Zelensky.
“So, let’s talk about the Tomahawks… we’d rather they didn’t need the Tomahawks, we’d rather the war end,” Trump explained.
Trump’s Optimism and Putin’s Role
Trump expressed optimism about the potential for resolving the conflict,following what he described as a “productive” conversation with his Russian counterpart,vladimir putin.
“I believe that President Putin wants to achieve it and that President Zelensky wants to achieve it, so let’s see if we can achieve it,” he said. Donald Trump added that Russia will continue to face pressure through various means, noting that the Prime Minister of India assured him that the country will halt purchases of Russian oil, potentially impacting Russian finances during the war.
