Agreement in Principle Reached
Former President Donald Trump announced on his Truth Social platform Wednesday night that an agreement had been reached between Israel and Hamas, calling it a “GREAT Day” for multiple parties including the Arab and Muslim world, Israel, surrounding nations, and the United States.
CBS News reported that two regional sources confirmed an agreement in principle regarding a hostage release, though procedural details remained unresolved as of Wednesday. Thes sources indicated that a release could begin within 48 hours of finalizing those details.
Trump’s Predictions and Peace Plan
In a Wednesday night interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, Trump predicted that hostages would “probably” be released on monday, U.S. time, and that the exchange would include the remains of deceased hostages held by hamas.
Trump also suggested that other elements of his previously outlined 20-point Israel-Hamas peace plan-including a committee to oversee governance in Gaza-could follow, though he did not provide a specific timeline. He expressed optimism about the future, stating, “I think you’re going to see people getting along, and you’ll see Gaza being rebuilt. People are going to be taken care of. It’s going to be a different world.”
Qatari Confirmation
Majed al-ansari, an advisor to qatari Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-thani, also confirmed the deal on Wednesday, writing on X that an agreement was reached on “the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, which will lead to ending the war, the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners, and the entry of aid.”
