Trump Says Putin-Zelenskyy Meeting Would Be Better Without Him
According to a report, former US President Donald Trump suggested that teh leaders of Russia and Ukraine should meet directly with each other before considering a three-way peace summit. this followed separate meetings with both Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska and Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky in Washington. Trump stated he believed it would be beneficial for the two leaders to meet “without me,just to see,I want to see what goes on.” He also indicated a willingness to step in later to perhaps “get [the deal] closed” if needed, acknowledging their previous relationship had been “very bad.” Notably, Trump advocated for working towards peace without a ceasefire as a first step, differing from suggestions made by some European leaders.
