Publicly, the administration announced that Trump would leave the country on July 8 aboard an older Air Force One aircraft. Cameras and reporters watched the President board that designated plane.

The Post reported that Trump subsequently exited that aircraft, entered a catering truck, and was transported to an alternate plane. The journalists remaining on the first Air Force One were unaware of the switch and operated under the belief that they were traveling on the same aircraft as the President.
