Trump Blocks Claims on Venezuelan Oil Revenue
US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Saturday, january 4, 2026, preventing courts and creditors from seizing revenue generated from the sale of Venezuelan oil held in US Treasury accounts. The White House announced the order, as reported by Reuters.
The executive order stipulates that all proceeds from these sales must be used within Venezuela to support “peace, prosperity and stability.”
This action follows a US military operation last week in Caracas that resulted in the capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro. News.bg reports that both washington and caracas have indicated a desire for increased cooperation.
Several companies have outstanding claims against venezuela. exxon Mobil and ConocoPhillips, for instance, had assets nationalized nearly two decades ago and are collectively owed billions of dollars, according to financial records.
