President Trump responded on Sunday night by launching a sharp attack on the head of the Catholic Church, questioning the pontiff’s political judgment and stating he was not a fan of the Pope.

Hours after his criticisms of the Pope, Trump posted an AI-generated image to his Truth Social account on April 12, 2026. The image portrayed the president in a Jesus-like role, wearing flowing robes and a red shawl while performing a biblical-style miracle.

The digital picture showed Trump placing his hand on the forehead of a sick man in a bed, with light radiating from his fingers and surrounding the man’s head. The scene was designed to echo the biblical account of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead.

The imagery blended religious symbolism with patriotic motifs, featuring American flags, military aircraft, eagles in flight, and angelic figures in the sky.

The post drew immediate condemnation from religious conservatives. Brilyn Hollyhand, a self-described full-time Christian and former chair of the Republican National Committee’s Youth Advisory Council, described the image as gross blasphemy and stated that faith is not a prop.

Following the uproar, the image was removed from Trump’s social media feed. Trump later claimed the image was being misconstrued, asserting that he was depicted as a doctor rather than Jesus.

Diplomatic and Political Tensions
