Trump Suggests Shooting Down Drones Over New Jersey, New York
Mystery Drones Buzzing East Coast: Trump Calls for Action, Officials Say No Threat
New York, NY – A wave of mysterious drone sightings across the East Coast has sparked public concern and calls for action, with former President Donald Trump urging the government too “shoot them down.”
The sightings, first reported in New Jersey in late November, have as spread to New York, Maryland, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. Residents have described seeing clusters of drones, some as large as eight, hovering over residential areas, including near sensitive locations like Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster,New Jersey, and LaGuardia Airport in New York City.
Trump, in a post on his social media platform Truth Social, expressed skepticism about the government’s knowledge of the situation. “Mystery drone sightings all over the country,” he wrote. “Can this really be happening without our government’s knowledge? I don’t think so! Let the public know, and now. Otherwise, shoot them down!!!”
His call to action echoed demands from several Republican lawmakers, including Reps.Marjorie Taylor Greene, Tim Burchett, Chris Smith, and Jeff Van Drew, who have also urged the military to intervene.
Though, White House National Security Communications Adviser John kirby downplayed the threat, stating that many of the sightings in New Jersey are actually lawfully operated manned aircraft.
The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security,in a joint statement, echoed Kirby’s assessment, saying their examination found no evidence to suggest the drones pose a danger to the public or are connected to any foreign entity.
Despite these assurances, the sightings have fueled anxiety among residents. New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy has repeatedly attempted to calm public fears while requesting additional resources from president Biden to investigate the phenomenon.
“We are taking these reports seriously and are working with our federal partners to determine the nature and origin of these drones,” Murphy said in a statement.
The mystery surrounding the drones continues to unfold, leaving many Americans wondering about the true nature of these aerial visitors.
