Former Trump Supporter Arrested for Attempted Assassination
A 58-year-old man, identified as Ryan Wesley Rouse, has been arrested for attempting to assassinate former President Donald Trump while he was playing golf at his own golf course.
According to a CNN report, Rouse was taken into custody on charges related to the attempted assassination. Born in 1966, Rouse has a history of petty crimes, with eight arrests under his belt. He has lived in Hawaii and worked as a construction worker in North Carolina.
Rouse’s social media activity reveals a strong interest in the war in Ukraine. He claimed to have spent several months in Ukraine in 2022, recruiting soldiers who had fled Afghanistan to fight for Ukraine. In a March 25, 2023, interview with The New York Times, Rouse discussed his efforts to support Ukraine’s war effort.
Rouse was also the leader of the Ukraine International Resource Center, a private organization that connects foreigners seeking to support Ukraine’s war effort with military units and aid organizations. In a June 2022 interview with Newsweek Romania, Rouse expressed his commitment to helping Ukraine, stating, “Many other wars are in a gray zone, but this war is clearly black and white. This war is a battle between good and evil.”
However, Rouse’s views on former President Trump are starkly different. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Rouse wrote, “I voted for you in 2016 and I and the world hoped that President Trump would be different and better than Candidate Trump, but we have all been sorely disappointed and you only seem to be getting worse and regressing.” He also stated, “I would be happy if you were gone.”
