⁣ Updated June 27, 2025

President Donald Trump, buoyed by a Supreme Court decision limiting the power ⁤of federal judges to block his policies, ⁢addressed the press, celebrating what he called a “monumental victory ⁣for the constitution.” The ruling, however, left unresolved the question of birthright⁣ citizenship.

Trump indicated he intends to target⁢ birthright citizenship, ⁣sanctuary city ⁣funding, and refugee resettlement. Attorney general Pam Bondi has‍ previously described judicial overreach as a “bipartisan problem,” noting that multiple presidents have faced similar challenges.

Justice ‍amy Coney Barrett, ⁤in the majority opinion, countered Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson’s concerns about executive power, stating that Jackson was ‍embracing ‍an “imperial Judiciary.”

Critics argue that ⁤the⁣ Supreme‍ Court decision concentrates too much power in the White house, especially ⁣given Trump’s past actions, including marginalizing Congress and assailing ⁣cultural ⁤institutions.

The Supreme court, which includes three Trump appointees, previously granted former presidents presumptive immunity from ⁢prosecution for “official acts.”

During⁤ the press conference, Trump responded⁤ to a question from⁣ LindellTV, a news organization founded by Mike Lindell, by saying “I love⁣ you,” when asked ⁢about investigating judges who allowed cases against him to proceed.

Trump also claimed illegal ⁤border⁤ crossings⁣ are at “zero” and reiterated his claim ⁢that⁣ Iran’s nuclear sites had been destroyed. A cameraman in the briefing room shouted, “Trump⁤ 2028!”

The president criticized⁢ Federal Reserve Chair ⁢Jerome Powell, accusing him of having “Trump Derangement Syndrome” for not lowering interest rates. He also briefly discussed a peace deal between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda, acknowledging his limited knowledge of the matter but noting potential⁤ U.S. access to⁢ critical minerals.

Trump alluded to threats ⁢against his life, referencing a past assassination attempt. He compared the risks of being president to dangerous professions like race car driving and bull⁤ riding.

He contrasted⁤ his accessibility to⁣ the press with ⁢that of President biden, stating‍ that Biden would leave without answering questions.

what’s next

the Trump administration is expected to pursue further executive ‍actions, especially concerning immigration⁤ and border security, following ⁢the Supreme Court’s decision.
