Trump, taking to his social media platform Truth Social, praised Johnson’s experience, stating, “Ron will work closely with our great nominee for Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, to promote the security and prosperity of our nation.”
The declaration highlighted Trump’s focus on border security and immigration, with the President-elect vowing to “put an end to migrant crime, stop the illegal trafficking of fentanyl and other dangerous drugs into our country, and make America safe again.”
Johnson previously served as U.S. Ambassador to El Salvador from 2019 to 2021 during Trump’s first term. Trump lauded Johnson’s tenure in El Salvador, emphasizing his work with local authorities to reduce violent crime and illegal immigration.Johnson boasts over 40 years of experience in the U.S. government, initially serving in the military before transitioning to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
