Copenhagen is expressing serious concern over alleged U.S.efforts to influence Greenland, an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark. Recent reports from Danish public broadcaster DR reveal what appear to be “influence operations” conducted by at least three American citizens with ties to Donald Trump‘s political network. These actions are raising fears of a concerted campaign to sway public opinion on the island towards secession and potential integration with the United States.
Danish Foreign Minister Lars Rasmussen has made it clear that any interference in Denmark’s internal affairs is unacceptable, and has summoned the highest-ranking U.S.diplomat in Denmark to address the situation.
