Tokyo,Japan – Following a powerful undersea earthquake,Japan has issued evacuation orders for coastal areas as tsunami⁢ waves,some ⁤reaching ​up to 1.3 meters, have ⁣been recorded⁤ along its shores. The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) confirmed the tsunami’s ⁢arrival, prompting urgent warnings and calls ⁤for residents to seek higher ground.

Tsunami⁢ Threat Spreads Across the Pacific

the⁢ earthquake, which struck off ‌the coast of Japan, triggered⁢ a widespread ​tsunami warning system.Officials⁢ reported that three tsunami waves had been recorded⁣ in Japan, with the largest measuring 1.3 ⁣meters.​ thankfully, Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary, Yoshimasa Hayashi, stated that no injuries or damage have been reported ‍so far.⁢ Crucially,he also⁤ confirmed that there ​were no irregularities ‍detected at ⁣any of​ Japan’s ⁢nuclear power plants,a ⁤significant relief given the country’s reliance on nuclear energy.

Understanding Tsunami dangers

The Japan Lifesaving Association and NHK have highlighted the potential dangers associated with these‍ waves.⁤ Tsunami waves ranging from 1 to 3‌ meters can be⁢ fatal if people are​ caught ⁣in them. Beyond the immediate risk to life, such waves can cause significant flooding and damage to wooden structures. The force of the water can also create dangerous debris, posing a severe threat from large drifting objects.

The US tsunami Warning⁣ System echoed these concerns, issuing its‍ own warnings about ​”hazardous tsunami waves” that were‌ expected to spread across the vast ‍Pacific Ocean.
