Tsunoda in High Demand: Multiple F1 Teams Chase Japanese Star for 2025 Seat
Yuki Tsunoda Reveals He Was Approached by Several Teams for 2025 F1 Season
Yuki Tsunoda is having a strong season at RB, generally outperforming veteran teammate Daniel Ricciardo.
Despite his strong form in the first half of the year, Yuki Tsunoda was not considered a candidate to replace Sergio Perez at Red Bull.
Sauber/Audi were reportedly interested in Yuki Tsunoda as they considered their options if they failed to sign Carlos Sainz Jr.
In the latest episode of the Beyond the Grid podcast, Yuki Tsunoda reflected on his impressive season so far.
“I think I have to continue doing what I’m doing. This year I started to show my worth from the beginning of the season,” said Yuki Tsunoda.
“Also, several teams have reached out to me and talked about different directions, which never happened last year, especially in my first year, I just need to continue to get results consistently.
“I have achieved this goal so far, but this is the first year where I have reached my full potential and I continue to get good results. I know there are many things I can improve on.
“I still have a lot of work to do on my own. I have to prove to all the main teams and teams that I am a good driver and that I can achieve a lot.”
Top Priority is Red Bull Racing
Despite being pipped by Red Bull again, Yuki Tsunoda insists his “top priority” is a promotion to Red Bull Racing.
“The first priority is Red Bull Racing,” added Yuki Tsunoda. “That’s one of my goals since I’ve been in F1. The car is one of the fastest at the moment. So McLaren is probably a little bit faster at the moment.”
“Ultimately I want to drive their car and show my potential, whether it’s top four, top three, top two, whatever. There might be a few cases.”
“I also want to run consistently in the top five one day, and I hope to be able to achieve that at VCARB.
Yuki Tsunoda could become a potential target for Aston Martin in the future, especially since the Honda powertrain will be installed in the Aston Martin in 2026.
Yuki Tsunoda admitted that he might consider it if a good opportunity arose again.
“But if other teams are interested in what I think and what they think and can accept it, why shouldn’t I?”
“But I’m just focusing on what I have to do right now. I’m going to continue to deliver results that will impress everyone.”
