MIAMI – – Marking World Radio Day, TUDN Radio today announced the launch of its national HD Radio Network, a significant expansion of accessibility for Hispanic sports fans and a strengthening of its multi-platform audio presence.
The launch underscores TUDN Radio’s commitment to broadening access for Hispanic audiences by expanding distribution across broadcast, streaming, and social platforms. Coverage will include key matches from Europe’s UEFA Champions League, the La Finalissima international club showdown, México’s Liga MX, and South America’s Recopa Sudamericana. Programming will expand in March to include the World Baseball Classic and Major League Baseball.
“On World Radio Day, we are focused on breaking down barriers to access,” said Carlos Azcarate, Vice President of Sports Radio Network at TelevisaUnivision. “By expanding our reach through HD technology, our 47-station affiliate network and our streaming and social platforms, we’re ensuring Hispanic fans stay connected to the sports they love. For sponsors, this creates a seamless, multi-platform way to engage with a passionate and growing audience.”
The expansion across audio platforms includes the introduction of HD subchannels (HD2 and HD3) in key markets, a central component of TUDN Radio’s distribution strategy. Currently, TUDN Radio reaches more than 70% of the U.S. Hispanic audience through its 47 affiliate stations nationwide.
The move to HD Radio comes as the audio landscape continues to evolve, with broadcasters seeking ways to maximize spectrum use and offer listeners more choice. HD Radio allows stations to broadcast multiple channels of programming simultaneously, providing listeners with a wider range of content. The addition of HD subchannels allows TUDN Radio to reach audiences who may not have access to a traditional analog signal, or who prefer the improved audio quality of digital radio.
Beyond broadcast, TUDN Radio is also available via streaming on the Uforia App and other leading audio platforms. The network leverages social media platforms – YouTube, Facebook, X, TikTok, and Instagram – to drive deeper fan engagement and extend its reach beyond traditional radio listeners.
The initial rollout of HD Radio subchannels includes key markets such as Los Angeles (KSCA 101.9 FM-HD3), New York (WXNY 96.3 FM-HD2), Miami (WRTO 98.3 FM-HD2), Houston (KLTN 102.9 FM-HD2), Dallas (KQBU 107.1 FM-HD2), Chicago (WPPN 106.7 FM-HD2), and San Francisco/San Jose (KSOL 98.9 FM-HD2), as well as Austin, Texas (KLQB 104.3 FM-HD2).
This expansion builds on TUDN Radio’s origins as Univision Deportes Radio, launched in . The network, then affiliated with ten AM and FM stations, largely replaced the Univision America network which had ceased operations in . In , the network was rebranded as TUDN Radio as part of a wider relaunch of the Univision Deportes division. Following the discontinuation of ESPN Deportes Radio in , TUDN Radio acquired some of its former stations, including KWKW in Los Angeles.
The competitive landscape of Spanish-language sports radio in the U.S. Has shifted in recent years. TUDN Radio previously competed directly with ESPN Deportes Radio, which operated 40 stations in 14 states. With the closure of ESPN Deportes Radio, TUDN Radio has solidified its position as a leading provider of Spanish-language sports content.
The launch of the HD Radio Network is part of a broader strategy by TelevisaUnivision to strengthen its sports offerings and reach Hispanic audiences across multiple platforms. The company has invested heavily in its TUDN brand, which encompasses television, radio, and digital properties. This latest move is intended to further enhance TUDN’s ability to connect with fans and deliver premium sports content wherever they are listening.
TUDN Radio’s expanded HD network reinforces the brand’s commitment to delivering premium sports audio content wherever fans are listening. As the audio landscape continues to evolve, the network’s multi-platform distribution strategy positions TUDN Radio to meet audiences across broadcast, streaming, and social channels while creating new opportunities for partners to engage with Hispanic sports fans nationwide.
