Gabbard Urges Openness on Epstein Case, Cites Bannon’s Claims of Cover-Up
Tulsi Gabbard has joined calls for the full release of documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case, echoing concerns raised by former Trump strategist Steve Bannon about a potential cover-up.
Gabbard’s comments followed a speech by Bannon, who urged his audience to await the eventual “full release” of documents pertaining to the Epstein scandal. Bannon suggested that a special counsel might be appointed to investigate efforts to undermine President Trump and his MAGA movement, potentially bringing these materials to light.
“Epstein is a key that picks the lock on so manny things – not just individuals, but also institutions,” Bannon stated. “Intelligence institutions, foreign governments, and who was working with him on our intelligence apparatus and in our government.”
Jeffrey Epstein, a financier and convicted sex offender, died by apparent suicide in federal custody in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. The current governance’s reluctance to declassify further records concerning his case has drawn criticism from some of Trump’s allies, including Bannon.
President Trump, however, has defended Attorney General Pam Bondi’s handling of the matter, characterizing the notion of the Epstein files being withheld as an exaggeration or fabrication by his political opponents.
