Jonathan Lapierre, the interim director general, attributed the deficit, in part, to the actions of his predecessor, who was removed from the position in October. Lapierre has been serving as interim director general since then.
Despite the recent deficit, the accountant indicated the Chamber of Commerce remains in sound financial condition, citing a cumulative surplus of $139,497.
Efforts to Restore Confidence
The board of directors has been actively working to stabilize the chamber after a period of “twists and turns.” Lapierre emphasized the collective effort to restore confidence among members and rebuild the Chamber’s credibility within the community.

The organization will relocate to the “500,” a developing economic hub located in the former church of Cap-aux-Meules. this project, spearheaded by the Wave, an innovation and development corporation, aims to consolidate the archipelago’s economic stakeholders in a central location.
