Ankara,Turkey – Turkey is cautiously optimistic about the new Syrian government and is prepared to offer military and logistical support,according to Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. Speaking to reporters, Fidan emphasized the importance of stability in Syria and Turkey’s commitment to combating terrorism.
“We need to see what the new governance will do. We believe they deserve a chance,” Fidan stated.
The Syrian Islamist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) has recently softened its rhetoric, and the transitional government has pledged to protect the rights and legal standing of all Syrians.
Fidan highlighted Turkey’s existing military cooperation agreements with numerous countries, stating, “We are ready to provide the necessary support if the new administration requests it.”

Turkey’s primary focus in Syria has been the removal of Kurdish separatist fighters, a goal shared by the new government, according to Fidan.”In this new period, the terrorist association PKK/YPG in Syria will be eliminated eventually. This is what we want, and this is what the new Syrian administration wants,” he declared. “We have no problems with our Kurdish brothers who live in Iraq and Syria. Our problem is solely with terrorists.”
