Controversial Statements During public Appearance
Footage circulating online shows a traffic police officer in Eskişehir making critical remarks about Abdullah Öcalan, the imprisoned leader of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK),and the “Terror-Free Türkiye” initiative. The officer’s speech, delivered to an applauding crowd, expressed strong nationalist sentiments.
According to the footage, the officer stated that those who campaigned on promises of Öcalan’s release would face defeat and emphasized the importance of supporting the Turkish Nation. He identified himself as being born in Kayseri on June 7, 1995, with roots in Yozgat, and claimed to have grown up attending Nationalist Movement party (MHP) congresses in Kayseri.
The officer’s remarks included expressions of frustration with perceived leniency towards individuals linked to the PKK, stating, “Every day, people close to the association shamelessly scratch our nerves.” He voiced concerns about potential territorial claims and asserted the ultimate authority of the Turkish nation.
