Oracle Denies OpenAI Data Center Delays
On December 12,2025,Oracle denied reports that data centers built for OpenAI would be completed by 2028 instead of the originally planned 2027. These reports, initially published by Bloomberg on Friday, cited a lack of labor and materials as the cause for the potential delay. Following the report, Oracle shares fell 6.5%, closing at $185.98.
Oracle’s Response
An Oracle spokesperson stated via email to CNBC, “The selection of locations and the handover schedule were made in close cooperation with OpenAI, after the agreement was concluded, and we approved it together.” The spokesperson further asserted that there have been no delays at any location and that all milestones are progressing as planned.
There have been no slippages at any of the locations required to fulfill our contractual commitments, and all milestones are progressing according to plan.
