Wood,a soldier turned adventurer,has gained fame for his daring treks across challenging terrains and his television programs documenting these expeditions. He has tackled the Himalayas and ventured through South America.
His rugged lifestyle has, at times, resulted in close calls. During a himalayan expedition, a taxi he was riding in plunged off a cliff, dropping 150 meters into a ravine after the brakes failed. Wood suffered a broken arm, requiring metal plates, but returned to complete the trek five weeks later.
