Ardara and Letterkenny, Donegal – Two lucky Donegal residents are kicking off 2025 with a life-changing surprise: each won €100,000 in the National Lottery’s New Year’s Eve Millionaire Raffle.

The winning tickets were sold at Columba Diver’s shop on Main Street in Ardara and The bookmark in Letterkenny Shopping Center. They were among six lucky players nationwide to claim the €100,000 prize.

“We are appealing to all our players who had a ticket for last night’s New Year’s Eve Millionaire Raffle to check their tickets carefully today,” said Emma Monaghan, spokesperson for the national Lottery. “If you were one of the biggest winners…sign the back of your ticket and contact the National Lottery Claims team.”

The Millionaire Raffle also saw one incredibly lucky player in County Meath scoop the top prize of €1 million. The winning ticket number was 467908, and the National Lottery will announce the winning store location on Thursday, January 2nd.

In addition to the Donegal and Meath winners, players in Cork (2), Kerry, and Kildare also won €100,000 prizes.

With 8,500 prizes ranging from €500 to €1 million up for grabs, the National Lottery is urging all ticket holders to check their numbers online at www.lottery.ie or through the National Lottery app.

A New Year, New Beginnings

The news of the Donegal wins has sparked excitement across the county.

“Did you hear about the two lucky people in Donegal who won €100,000 each in the lottery?” Caoimhe asked her friend Aoife.

“No way! Really? When did this happen?” Aoife exclaimed.

“It was in the New Year’s Eve Millionaire Raffle. Can you imagine starting 2025 with that kind of news?” Caoimhe replied.

“That’s astonishing! Were in Donegal were the winning tickets bought?” Aoife asked.

“Apparently, one was sold at Columba Diver’s shop in Ardara, and the other at The Bookmark in Letterkenny,” Caoimhe said.

“Well, six people across the country won €100,000 each. And get this, someone in Meath won the top prize of €1 million!” Caoimhe shared.

“That’s life-changing money!” Aoife exclaimed.

“Crazy, right? They haven’t released the winning store location for the €1 million prize yet, but they will on thursday,” Caoimhe added.

“So, there were a lot of winners altogether?” Aoife asked.

“Yeah,they had 8,500 prizes ranging from €500 to €1 million,” Caoimhe confirmed.

“I need to check my ticket! do you think I should download the app?” Aoife wondered.

“Yeah, the National Lottery app or their website are the easiest ways to check,” Caoimhe suggested.

“This really puts 2025 off to a good start for those lucky winners,” Aoife said.

“Absolutely! And it’s nice to know that the National Lottery supports so many good causes in ireland,” Caoimhe agreed.

The National Lottery’s proceeds support Good Causes across Ireland, contributing to areas like sport, youth initiatives, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage, and the irish language. In 2023 alone, €227.9 million was raised for local Good causes.
