Two official MotoGP Ducatis sold in the UK – Motorcycle Sports
Two official Ducati MotoGP bikes were sold to a private buyer at last weekend’s Silverstone Festival: a 2003 Desmosedici GP3 and a 2007 GP7.
Both bikes were then put up for auction – the GP3 ridden by Loris Capirossi sold for £201,250 (€239,128) and the GP7 originally ridden by Casey Stoner sold for £402,500 (€478,256) – Motorcycle News reports that the buyer was from outside the UK.
The GP3 was Ducati’s first bike when they returned to the premier class and won one race. It had a Desmodromic V4 engine with over 220 horsepower, a tubular steel trellis frame, Brembo brakes and Öhlins suspension. The bike was auctioned off, retaining its original Marlboro design.
Meanwhile, the GP7 is the bike on which Stoner became Ducati’s first MotoGP World Champion, and is powered by a 799cc desmodromic V4 engine with an output of over 220 horsepower. The chassis is similar to the GP3, with a steel tubular trellis frame, Brembo brakes and Öhlins suspension. The wheels are 17-inch, but the original 16.5-inch wheels are also included. Of note, the frame still has the inspection sticker from the 2007 Spanish GP.
