A 35-year-old man was arrested Saturday, April 12, 2026, after allegedly causing two separate crashes in Honolulu that left three people seriously injured.

According to the Honolulu Police Department, the first incident occurred shortly before 5:20 p.m. On Kuwili Street in Kalihi, where a 46-year-old man riding a bicycle was intentionally hit by a vehicle.

Approximately 12 minutes later, at around 5:30 p.m., police said the same vehicle allegedly ran a red light at the intersection of Hotel and Alakea streets. This resulted in a collision with another vehicle and the striking of a pedestrian.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services co-responded to both scenes. Three individuals were transported to the hospital in serious condition: the 46-year-old bicyclist, a 54-year-old male driver, and a 37-year-old female pedestrian.

The Honolulu Police Department has opened two attempted murder cases in connection with the events. The 35-year-old suspect was located and arrested following the incidents.

The crashes led to temporary road closures in downtown Honolulu, with S. Hotel Street closed in all directions between Bishop and Richard streets.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or CrimeStoppers at (808) 955-8300.
