Albuquerque Women Arrested in Fatal Shooting of Man Released from Jail Hours Earlier
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Two women were arrested in Los Angeles for the August shooting death of a 24-year-old man in Albuquerque, federal authorities announced.
Katherine Silas, 23, and Samanta Villalba, 27, are accused of killing Adam Morres, who was found shot in the head inside a silver Toyota on hermosa Dr. SE on August 22. Morres was transported to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries two days later.Police say Morres had been released from jail just hours before the shooting.
Investigators believe Morres contacted Villalba after his arrest, asking her to bring someone to collect his belongings before he was incarcerated. detectives allege that an individual, possibly Silas, retrieved Morres’ belongings, including his phone.
Through tracking the phone, detectives determined Villalba possessed it until the time of the murder. Further investigation revealed that both Silas and Villalba allegedly harbored resentment towards Morres for betraying them.

Detective Ramirez began by confirming the arrest of Katherine Silas, 23, and Samanta Villalba, 27, in Los Angeles, for the August shooting death of 24-year-old Morres. He elaborated on the sequence of events: “morres had been released from jail hours before being found shot in his car.He had contacted Villalba, requesting her to retrieve some belongings. Our inquiry revealed Silas collected these items, including Morres’ phone.”
We asked about the connection between the suspects and the victim. “Detectives uncovered evidence suggesting both Silas and Villalba harbored resentment towards Morres due to a perceived betrayal,” Detective Ramirez explained.
“Through meticulous tracing of Morres’ phone,we placed the device in villalba’s possession leading up to the murder. This technological trail proved crucial in apprehending both women.”
Both Silas and Villalba are currently facing charges of murder and tampering with evidence. The investigation remains ongoing.
