The incident involving two Wright County women arrested following a Snapchat post highlights ongoing concerns about how social media interactions can escalate into real-world violence, particularly in small communities where digital disputes may quickly turn physical.

According to court records and law enforcement reports, Autumn Johnson, born in 1994, and Courtney Volner, born in 2007, both residents of Mountain Grove, Missouri, were charged with third-degree assault after an altercation that occurred near Alumni Memorial Park on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

The probable cause statement indicates that police responded to the park following a reported assault but found no one at the scene initially. Approximately ten minutes later, the victim arrived at the Wright County Police Department and reported being assaulted by Johnson and Volner after a Snapchat post she had made.

The victim stated she was seated in the driver’s side of a vehicle at the park when Volner approached with a group of individuals. During the confrontation, the victim said she did not exit the vehicle when Johnson pushed Volner aside, grabbed her hair, and struck her in the face.

Officers observed visible signs of injury during their interview with the victim, including redness to her nose and head, as well as missing hair. They also noted dried blood on her right hand, which the victim said originated from nasal bleeding sustained during the incident.

After the initial strike by Johnson, the victim reported that she grabbed Johnson’s hair and slammed her head against the vehicle door. She said she eventually broke free from Johnson, who then left the park area.

Following Johnson’s departure, Volner allegedly returned to the vehicle, grabbed the victim’s hair, struck her in the face again, and attempted to pull her out through the window. A witness present in the vehicle corroborated the victim’s account, stating they also observed the assault and helped separate Volner from the victim.

During the investigation, a Wright County deputy located one of the suspects’ vehicles outside the city limits. Johnson reportedly admitted to her involvement, stating, “I did it,” according to the probable cause documentation cited in the reports.

Both Johnson and Volner were subsequently arrested and charged individually with third-degree assault. The case underscores how online interactions, even those originating on platforms like Snapchat, can precede physical confrontations with legal consequences.

As of the date of this report, no further details regarding court proceedings, potential plea agreements, or sentencing dates have been made publicly available through official channels such as the Wright County Sheriff’s Office or Missouri state judicial records.
