LAS VEGAS, NV – Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) announced a shakeup for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season, naming Tyler Allen as crew chief for Ty Gibbs and the No. 54 team. Allen, a rising star in the racing world, brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success to the role.
Allen’s remarkable resume includes eight wins as crew chief for JGR’s No. 20 Xfinity Series team in 2024, contributing to a runner-up finish in the owner’s championship. Prior to his breakout year, Allen honed his skills as a race engineer under veteran crew chief Adam Stevens, playing a key role in Kyle Busch’s 2019 Cup Series championship and multiple Championship 4 appearances.
“It’s an honor to be named crew chief for Ty Gibbs and the 54 Team as we head into the 2025 season,” said allen. “This opportunity has been a dream of mine since starting here at JGR 10 years ago, and I’m thankful for the support and guidance I’ve received.”
Allen’s appointment comes as Gibbs enters his third season in the Cup Series. The young driver showed significant betterment in his sophomore year, securing eight top-five finishes, 12 top-10s, two pole awards, and a playoff berth.
The move is part of a larger restructuring within JGR. Chris Gabehart has been promoted to competition director, while Chris gayle will take over crew chief duties for Denny Hamlin and the No. 11 team.
