Disasters Caused by Extreme Weather are Becoming More Common
Depending on the trend, we will assess whether a higher storm signal needs to be issued. In the past few hours, Capricornus has steadily moved westward and continued to strengthen, and its associated outer rainbands are affecting the coastal waters of eastern Guangdong. Strong winds will gradually blow from the east to the northeast in general areas of Hong Kong, and strong winds will occasionally blow offshore and in highlands. The strong wind signal No. 3 will be maintained at least until 12 noon tomorrow.
If Capricorn moves along its current forecast path and continues to intensify, the winds in Hong Kong are expected to further increase later tomorrow, and the Observatory may need to issue a higher tropical cyclone warning signal from tomorrow afternoon to evening. There will be large waves and swells in the sea. People are advised to stay away from the shore and stop all water activities.
