Typhoon Kang Rui Disrupts Simakas Tribal Communication Road
(Central News Agency reporter Lu Gangjun, Hsinchu County, 2nd) Typhoon Kang Rui has disrupted the Simakas tribal communication road in Jianshi Township, Jianshi Township Chief Zeng Guoda noted that the company’s outsourced manufacturers will continue to repair the road overnight, and it is expected to be repaired by tomorrow morning.
Yun Tianbao, director of the Indigenous People’s Administration Department of Hsinchu County Government, said that today, he and Zeng Guoda, outsourced builders, and others sent heavy equipment to the Simakas tribe to contact the tribe. They found that many places had collapsed, so they rushed to advance the tribe.
In a telephone interview with a reporter from the Central News Agency, Zeng Guoda mentioned that in the afternoon he met the Simakas tribe at 4 kilometers of Lianwai Road. According to the information, the tribe also has equipment that may have been damaged.
Zeng Guoda mentioned that he asked the outsourcing company of the Jianshi Township Office to repair overnight. It is expected that the actual situation will be repaired by tomorrow morning.
The tribe, which currently has about 150 people, said food stocks could last until tomorrow night and are expected to be delivered to the tribe tomorrow morning.
Zeng Guoda said that tomorrow morning, the National Army is expected to help transport the tribe’s chronic disease patients who need medical treatment and follow-up drugs down the mountain, or to deliver medicine prepared by the Zhuxian Prefecture Health Bureau to the tribe, ensuring the health of tribals.
Relief Efforts Underway
Zeng Guoda mentioned that the tribe’s communication road collapsed, and the tribe was left with only 3 days of food. However, with the help of the National Army and the Hsinchu County Government, relief efforts are underway to ensure the well-being of the tribals.
