For decades, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has collaborated with the Government of Vietnam to enhance the country’s capacity to respond to, prevent, and reduce the risk of natural disasters. This partnership aims to improve the disaster preparedness of communities across the country as the frequency and intensity of natural disasters increase.
Japan Offers Support to Vietnam in the Aftermath of Storm No. 3
On September 11, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Thanh Binh met with Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Ito Naoki to receive a message of condolence from Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh regarding the impact of storm No. 3.
In the telegram, the Japanese Prime Minister expressed his deep condolences to the families of victims in the areas affected by the storm. The Japanese Government reaffirmed its commitment to standing side by side with Vietnam and providing support to overcome difficulties and stabilize life.
The Japanese Ambassador announced that the Japanese Government, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), is actively considering providing equipment and supplies to help overcome the consequences of the storm based on Vietnam’s needs.
Deputy Minister Pham Thanh Binh expressed his gratitude for Japan’s sincere feelings, sharing, and willingness to support Vietnam, highlighting the close friendship and mutual love between the Vietnamese and Japanese people.
Relief Efforts Underway in Vietnam
Leaders of the Party, State, Government, ministries, departments, branches, and localities are actively mobilizing forces and resources, focusing on treating the injured and victims. Rescue forces are working to reach isolated areas, ensuring electricity and water conditions for people and businesses, and making efforts to stabilize the situation soon.
