Vietnamese Community in Germany Organizes Fundraiser for Storm Victims
The Vietnamese community in Germany has come together to support those affected by super typhoon Yagi, demonstrating their solidarity and commitment to their homeland.
On September 11, 2024, the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany held a fundraising ceremony in response to the call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son. The event aimed to raise funds for those affected by the devastating storm.
Ambassador Vu Quang Minh expressed his gratitude to the Vietnamese community in Germany for their generosity and willingness to share the losses of their compatriots in Vietnam. He announced that the Embassy staff had donated 3 days’ salary, totaling 3,330 EURO, to support flood victims.
Representatives of various associations in Germany, including the Vietnamese Association in Germany, the Vietnamese Women’s Association in Germany, and the Vietnamese Student Association in Berlin-Brandenburg, also made significant contributions to the cause. The total amount of donations reached 17,280 EURO and 200 USD.
Ambassador Vu Quang Minh symbolically handed over the donation to the delegation led by Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member and Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, to deliver to those in need in Vietnam.
Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang expressed his appreciation for the Vietnamese community in Germany’s efforts, highlighting the tradition of mutual support and sharing that defines the Vietnamese people. He emphasized that the contributions of the Vietnamese community abroad, particularly in Germany, are invaluable and demonstrate their commitment to their homeland.
The Vietnamese community in Germany will continue to support their compatriots in Vietnam through various channels, showcasing their dedication to their country and its people.
