Kannon sees value in Tommy Fleetwood, a 40-1 longshot. Fleetwood has three top-five finishes this season and performs well on courses similar to Oakmont. “The U.S. Open has always been Fleetwood’s best major,” Kannon said. “He has three top-5 finishes including a runner-up at Shinnecock Hills in 2018. He is having a fantastic season with two recent fourth-place finishes at two U.S. Open-type Par 70 golf courses.”
Fleetwood’s well-rounded game is reflected in his tour rankings: eighth in strokes gained: tee-to-green, 12th in SG: approach the green, and 18th in putting average.
