Abu Dhabi Hosts the 15th UN Crime Prevention Congress

The 15th United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Congress runs until Thursday at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). More than 118 countries are participating in the international event. The gathering operates under the theme “Accelerating crime prevention, criminal justice and rule of law action: protecting people and planet and achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the digital age.”

Reinforcing the Rule of Law Through Artificial Intelligence

Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance, stated that the hosting of the congress reinforces the rule of law and employs artificial intelligence. According to Maktoum bin Mohammed, the event reflects the UAE’s firm commitment to international cooperation in combating crime in all its forms and ensuring community security.

Reviewing Advanced National Security Technologies

During a visit to the exhibition accompanying the congress, Maktoum bin Mohammed reviewed national exhibits featuring advanced solutions and technologies that use artificial intelligence and innovation to strengthen justice and security systems. He noted via social media that the UAE continues to employ technology and innovation to build proactive, prepared systems to face future challenges.

A Strategic Partnership Backed by the Ministry of Justice

The global “SAFE-T” initiative was established through a strategic partnership uniting the General Women’s Union, the Ministry of Justice—which provided foundational support and funding—and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. The program aims to utilize technology to promote digital safety and active, sustainable participation, coinciding with the discussions at the Abu Dhabi congress. Maktoum bin Mohammed emphasized that national participation in the exhibition highlights the country’s progress in developing security and judicial systems. He pointed to the exemplary use of technology and artificial intelligence in enhancing government work efficiency and service quality to address emerging security challenges stemming from rapid technological advancements.
