Tritons Dominate vandals, Extend Winning Streak too Seven
Moscow, Idaho - the UC San Diego Tritons rolled past the Idaho vandals on Sunday night, securing an impressive 80-56 victory and extending their winning streak to seven games.
Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones led the charge for the Tritons,pouring in 21 points and grabbing five rebounds. Tyler McGhie was also on fire, shooting 8 for 18 from the field, including 5 for 11 from beyond the arc, to add another 21 points. Hayden Gray chipped in with 11 points, two of which came from a perfect 2 for 2 performance at the free-throw line. Gray also made his presence felt on defense, racking up five steals.
The Tritons’ dominant performance left the Vandals struggling to keep pace. Tyler Mrus led Idaho with 20 points,but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Tritons’ offensive firepower. Kolton Mitchell added 12 points and two steals for the Vandals, while Kristian Gonzalez contributed eight points.
With this win, the Tritons improve to 9-2 on the season, while the Vandals fall to 4-7.
