ORLANDO — The UCF Knights look to snap a two-game losing streak with a Valentine’s Day home game against the West Virginia Mountaineers. The Big 12 matchup is scheduled for 6 p.m. Inside Addition Financial Arena, marking the first of two contests between the teams this season. UCF will travel to Morgantown on March 6 for the regular-season finale.

Both teams enter the game with identical 6-5 records in Big 12 play, and overall records of 17-6 for UCF and 15-9 for West Virginia. The Knights are seeking to avoid their first losing streak of the season after suffering back-to-back losses on the road.

According to predictions from Schuyler Callihan, UCF will defeat West Virginia 71-65. Callihan highlighted UCF’s rebounding ability, ranking 56th nationally, and the presence of 7-foot-2 center John Bol as key factors. He expressed concern about West Virginia’s offensive struggles and the likelihood of Honor Huff and Treysen Eaglestaff needing to perform exceptionally well for the Mountaineers to have a chance.

Christopher Hall predicts a closer contest, forecasting a 69-67 UCF victory. Hall noted West Virginia’s recent success on the road, winning two of its last three away games, and their need to secure wins after a difficult home loss to Baylor. He also pointed out that UCF has only dropped two home games this season, falling to Vanderbilt earlier in the year and to Arizona after a strong start in Big 12 play.

Both teams have had nearly a week to prepare for Saturday’s game, and Hall emphasized the importance of minimizing errors. He suggested that if West Virginia can establish its defense early, they could secure a win, but noted that slow starts have been a recurring issue for the Mountaineers this season.

West Virginia is alternating wins and losses over its previous six games and boasts one of the best defenses in the Big 12, according to reports. The game represents an important opportunity for both teams to improve their positioning as the NCAA Tournament approaches.
